Frequently Asked Questions About Hypnosis
Is Hypnosis via Zoom as Effective as In-Person Hypnosis?
Absolutely! The effectiveness of hypnosis doesn’t depend on physical location—it happens in
your mind, not in an office. The structure of a Zoom hypnosis session is nearly identical to an in-
person session, with a minor difference in the recording process.
In person, you’ll first experience your hypnosis recording during the session as it’s created. For
Zoom sessions, the recording is made after we’ve finished talking and gathering all the necessary details.
I’ll then email the recording to you as an MP3 file. Everything else, from the questions asked to the process followed, remains the same.
Does Hypnosis Work for Everyone?
Not everyone can benefit from hypnosis. It isn’t effective for individuals under the influence of
drugs or alcohol, those with severe mental illness or mental disabilities, or those unwilling to be hypnotized.
Most people, however, can enter a hypnotic state. Like other natural abilities, the ease of being
hypnotized varies, with most people falling into a middle range. Hypnosis is a natural state of
mind that we enter daily, such as when deeply focused or daydreaming. Misconceptions about hypnosis often arise from its portrayal in movies, not its reality.

Is Hypnosis Safe?
Yes, hypnosis is entirely safe and natural. You cannot get stuck in hypnosis, lose control, or be
made to do anything against your will or nature while in a hypnotic state.
Instead, hypnosis enhances your sense of control because it taps into the subconscious mind,
where most of your patterns and behaviors reside. There are no negative side effects—it’s not
mind control, but rather a state of deep relaxation and heightened focus.

What’s it Like to Be Hypnotized?
Hypnosis feels like entering a deeply relaxed and focused state, much like these everyday
experiences:
-
Getting “in the zone” while staring at something during a lecture.
-
Being so engrossed in a book or movie that you lose track of time.
-
Driving on autopilot and realizing you’ve reached your destination without remembering the journey.

In hypnosis, you remain aware and in control, but you’ll feel calm, peaceful, and deeply relaxed.
Will I Remember Everything That Happens During Hypnosis?
That depends on the depth of hypnosis achieved. Hypnotic states range from light to deep, and memory can vary:
-
Light Stages: You’ll remain aware and remember everything.
-
Deep Stages: These are often associated with amnesia. Clients may feel like they’ve
fallen asleep and not recall details, though the subconscious mind retains everything.
For most issues, only light to moderate hypnosis is necessary. Deeper stages are typically used
for medical or surgical purposes, such as pain management.

Will the Changes I Make During Hypnosis Last?
In most cases, yes. Hypnosis rewires your brain to create new habits and behaviors. However,
maintaining these changes requires reinforcing the new patterns while avoiding old habits.
I provide tools and techniques to help you sustain your progress and make lasting changes.
Additionally, suggestions are included during hypnosis to strengthen the permanence of your transformation.
Be mindful of “secondary gains,” or hidden benefits of old habits. For example, a person might
unconsciously resist giving up a behavior like procrastination if it provides an excuse for avoiding responsibilities.
Recognizing and addressing these factors is key to lasting success.
Am I Giving Up Control of My Mind When I’m Hypnotized?
Not at all. Hypnosis doesn’t mean surrendering control; it actually enhances it by giving you access to your subconscious mind, which governs most of your behavior.
The myth of losing control often stems from stage hypnosis shows, where participants voluntarily act out for entertainment. These individuals are aware of their actions but choose to follow along because it aligns with their expectations and comfort level.
During therapeutic hypnosis, you remain in control at all times. If an emergency arose, you’d snap out of hypnosis immediately.
Rather than relinquishing control, hypnosis empowers you to make meaningful changes by working directly with your subconscious.
